Yeah but I would use your hand to do it.

sure but I would get a glove first...no glove no love..LOL
I would grab a handful of warm mayo first
yes i would. because if he's coming out of the theater i was at and watching the same movie then I'm sure he is safe to shake hands with. and if he is stupid enough to have his emission on his hands. well i would simply use the little bottle of hand sanitizer i keep in my purse.
After PeeWee been shaking his hand in the movie theatre?

Your (ex) girlfriend should tell her sister. I don't see that it's a big deal that you two are back together, unless you have a current girlfriend or she has a boyfriend... which of course the two of you will have to work out, the sooner the better.

If there is a good and loving God, why does it cost $11.50 to go to a movie theater?

For $11.50 can't they electrify the seats so people making noise and being disruptive get shocked?

If there is a good and loving God, why does it cost $11.50 to go to a movie theater?comedy show

Most gods are omniscient (or semi-omniscient). They do not have to pay to get in to the movies so they have no reason to care how much it costs.

Twenty goes no where these days. lol
Oh! Humor ar-ar
The fact that we can download those movies for free, is proof of a good and loving God then?
This is why I wait until they come out on DVD, unless it's something I really want to see
Maybe your good and loving God wanted you to not go to the theatre.

Perhaps he envisioned you to feed the hungry and help the poor.
Oh please! That would be great!

I pay all that money and people won't shut up. ugh. Though the movie theater in FL has a policy to kick anyone out who is being disruptive. If you report them, a usher comes in, stands by the door and will kick them out when caught in the act. It rocks. :)
Well because morons pay that much to see crap. You really can't blame God for that.
There IS a good and loving God

He hates theatres, hence the toll.
God does not sanction the movies...Church seats are free...
I only pay 8.50 with my student ID...

But I agree on the electrified seats. That could've come in handy the last time I was at the theater... there was a fellow of questionable sanity sitting next to me, attending the movie all by his crazy lonesome, and he kept leaning over and commenting on the film THE ENTIRE TIME.

Yeah...
ROFL

Never mind that, why does oil cost almost $3.50 a gallon. For that price a gallon should send an instant shock back to the greedy SOBs at Mobil every time the furnace kicks on
That is the doing of humans since God gave us free will, and they are greedy people, or just trying to make a living to support their families, either way God is loving no matter how much it costs you to go see a movie(check to see if there is a dollar theater in your area).
You live in the wrong place. It's only $7 for me here.

Here we go. Forget about "Shakespeare in Love" and such nonsense... Honest : Aaron.
Pick any Funny movie in the theather... It's all depends on which theatre you are going to
comedy by far
I think that a first date should be anything but a movie because you don't have an opportunity to talk or get to know one another. I think an activity would be a better bet. For example, dancing, bowling, skating, mini-golf, theme parks.
Comedies (NON-raunchy!!) are a good bet for a first date.

Since it's kind of hard to talk in the movies, be sure to make plans to go for a bite to eat before or after the movie ... or something along those lines so you have a chance to talk to each other.

How many ways can 5 people, A, B, C, D, and E, sit in a row at a movie theater D and E won't si

What I'm actually looking for is an explanation about how to resolve this statistics problem. How do I do the permutation?

How many ways can 5 people, A, B, C, D, and E, sit in a row at a movie theater D and E won't sit together?getting late

Start by ignoring the problems between D and E. If anyone sits anywhere, there are 5 choices for seat 1, 4 for seat 2, etc. So there are 5*4*3*2*1 = 5! = 120 total possible ways.

It's hard to find cases where D and E are next to each other out of the 120. Instead, group D and E as a single person, leaving 4 total seats and see how many there are now. That's 4! = 24. D and E are treated as a single location but there are 2 ways D and E could be seated in the groupings. Either D on the left or D on the right. This gives 48 possible ways for D and E to be together.

Your answer then is the total number of arrangements (120) minus the number where D and E are together (48) leaving 72 for your answer.

Well, you can throw popcorn at them. Make it the really sticky buttery ones.
The Anti-Ninja Star Pro-Safety Legislation of 1993 passed by Congress put a stop to your mischief.

I think they might be considered a concealed weapon.
Because it's a perfectly good waste of ninja stars.

How much did seeing a movie at a theater cost when you were a kid?

During the 1970s, I remember paying 49 cents for a double feature. That's right... two movies. And these were current releases. Between the movies, the theaters would show a short... like a black-and-white 3 Stooges, or a Disney animation. As far as refreshments go... with 3 or 4 dollars you get have a feast.. hot dog, popcorn, a drink and more candy than you can eat.

I was actually very lucky in that way, my father ran a theatre from the time I was born until I was about 15 and everything was free for me AND the friend that happened to go with me!!!
20 cents 2 movies sat or sun matinees
$2.00 for evening shows, $1.00 for matinees, and 50 cents for second-runs - Drive-Ins were $2.00 for everybody in the car

(Grandpa, what's a drive-in?)
im still a kid and i live in the Uk but i will answer the question anyway. Costs 锟? to go to the cinema.
Cost me $1 to get in to the movie plus a large soda and a small popcorn. That was 2 hours worth of babysitting money though.
There was the $3 double feature at the Star Theater in Oceanside, CA from some time before 1990 until about 1994 or so.
I didn't start paying for myself until I was a teenager in the 80's - it was $1.50 for matinees, and $3.50 or $4.00 for evenings. Drive-ins were great - maybe $2.00 or $3.00 per person for three movies back-to-back, and you can load up your car with all the people, food, drink (alcohol), etc. you want!
I remember that when 2001 came out it was $2 a person!

But I do remember in 1961 that my brothers and I could get in for about $1
When I was a kid back in the 70's, kids could see a matinee for around $2 for first-run movies and $1 for 2nd-run movies. And we sometimes still had movie shorts. And you could still get different sized buckets of popcorn. And sodas were still pretty cheap.
Iam Still A Kid But I Really Wised I HadLived in the fifties up... It sounds interesting..except wars %26gt;:[

Now its 10$ here for 1 movie and 15 for snacks..

greedy people..
I grew up in California and first-run movies in the late 1970s and early 1980s were $4.50 for evening shows; I think matinees were $2.50. I remember buying red licorice (the kind in the box) for $1.00.
I'm still a kid and it cost $5 for movies until 5:00 and after that it is $7 to get into movies.

Yep , he knows he better or else....;)
My husband or boyfriend doesn't "allow" me to do anything. I do as I damn well please! I am well over 18 so I don't need a daddy. I wouldn't have a man who thinks he can allow or disallow me anything!
You are my husband and you fetch what I want , when I want, quit trying to act like a manly man on here or I am not going to let you use the computer in your room anymore!! Got that? : )

I do like all your personalities dear, I am just playing with you.

I DON'T GIVE HIM A DAMN CHOICE......IF I WANT POPCORN, I ORDER IT AND IF HE IS NOT THERE TO PAY FOR IT.....I DO.....I HAVE MONEY TOO, I DON'T NEED A GUY TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING I WANT......HELL IF HE WANTS I'LL BUY HIM POPCORN.......WOULD YOU LIKE SOME???? I 'LL PAY !!!!!
I get whatever i want whenever i want.
Ummm...I'm sorry...did you say "allow?" My husband doesn't have the power to "allow" me to do or not to do anything. (nor would he want to) If I want candy and we have the money, I buy it. If we're kind of broke at that moment and it's not a good idea, I wait for another time.
Not only does he allow me but he also allows me to allow him to pay for it as well as pop, nachos, candy and anything that I want.
First of all poor choice in words. My man doesn't need to ALLOW me to do anything I am more own person. Okay now that we got the PC out of the way, It Depends who pays for the tickets. If he pays for the tickets than I want to pay for the snacks. If I paid for the tickets it would be nice if he paid for the snacks but it's not required.
he probably would but he does it
no we smuggle in our own candy. that's why i take a big purse :]
Again, it was just the opposite in my house. My dad was always asking my mom to let him get popcorn when we went to a movie. She lets him have it 9 times out of 10.
no!! i make her cook some popcorn at home and smuggle it into the theater in her purse. i don't allow her to have candy because it will make her fat. that's if i allow her to go to the theater at all.
My husband doesn't allow me to do anything! I make my own choices!!
i let myself get it
What do you mean ALLOW me. I'll get it if I want to.
I'm not sure what you mean this time? If you mean will he let me get my own popcorn or candy, then before when I dated guys I never payed for anything when going out. But once I came to realize I was a lesbian then I became the male in relationships. So I pay now for my dates. But if you mean will he even get the popcorn or candy and let me have it, then as I've always said, I wouldn't be with or stay with a guy like that for long
I dont ask..I SAY what I want and he buys..
Of course. Popcorn at the movie is like a tradition and I love it. He gets a bucket of popcorn with extra butter and we share. I'm not a big candy eater but he gets tons of it for himself. Sometimes I even sneak some in for him in my purse. LOL

Yeah. The Heartbreak Kid's DVD cut out a scene that was in theaters after the credits, and apparently a kid snorted cocaine in the scene. I didn't see the film in theaters, but look up the name of the movie on www.cara.org and it has two different ratings: "theatrical version" and "edited version."

Also, I remember when I saw School of Rock, in the end credits, all the kids get a solo except for the bassist and Jack Black says it's because bass players don't deserve solos (or something like that). On the DVD, it's not there.
i thought the movie was shorter too. which was really weird because the movie in the theater was alredy missing alot of things.
I have not seen a movie with something like that, but i am aware of certain films for sale at Wal-MArt that are cut to be shown with a family

either way
Pick her up?
Do you have a chauffeur to go pick her up sport? if so go ahead. If not, dont have mommy take you to pick her up. Have her meet you at the mall or movies. Also, make sure you pay bro. Always keep your full attention on her and dont look at any other gurls!
I'd say meet there, since you can't drive. But BE THERE FIRST. there's nothing worse than having to wait for your date, ugh.
how can you pick her up if you cant drive?
meet her there if you dont want it to be so awkard on the way over there. if you dont care about that, go for it. but you cant drive so good luck with that. unless you attempt driving and then crash into a semi and roll the car over. that wouldn't be good, so i suggest meeting her there.
GO GETTTAAA
Either one is fine. I think it would be nice to pick her up, that way it shows you care about her and neither of you will be afraid that the other isn't going to show up.
well seeing as you cant drive itd be awkward to have your parents take you and just wouldnt be great. meet her there or walk. good luck.
Pick her up ;)
She would find it cuter if you pick her up. Then you two have time to talk before the movie. :3 Good luck! Have fun.
Pick her up and use the public transit. You can probably get to know her better on the subway/bus or something. =)

Good luck mate.
I would pick her but try to get like a sibling or an older friend to drive or else it'll be kind of awkward
at your age, i would simply ask. tell her you'd pick her up if she'd like, or you can meet her there.
pick her up. it would be sweet.
go to her, its nicer, we like protective guys
how are you going to pick her up without having a car -_-, meet her at the theater :P
Whichever works for you!
moms/dads overreact. meet her there and if it gets serious, tell your parents. because if you break up, they talk about it forever even after
It might be awkward if you pick her up because your parents will be driving
Meet her there, and get there earlier than she does.
pick her up big time.. ad if your parent dont know you dating still pick her up have a pg ocnvo in the car lol, or if her mom drives her she'll get suspicions u know hwta i mean? as a fellows 14 yrs old i'd pic her up:P
call them to meet you outside her/his house

that would be sweet and nicer than you both making your own way there
Pick her up!!!!

ok...which movies do you recommend? i was thinking cloverfield. has anyone watched it? what is it like? worth watching? on a 1-10 scale what would you rate it? any other good movies? same questions.

Theater movie question Answers needed quick!!!?paramount theater

I basically tripped balls the entire time I watched Cloverfield. It was amazing and I HATE scary movies. I really liked it, but if you get motion sickness easily, I wouldn't recommend it. The entire movie is filmed from a regular video camera (like Blair Witch). So people are running and stuff is blowing up every where. It's kinda intense, but honestly, it was good.

I also liked I Am Legend, but again, it was intense and kinda scary.

Oh, I'm just gonna throw this out there....Cloverfield was given a lot of effort to keep it secret...Don't post answers that give stuff away....about any movie. It's pretty lame.

id go see the bucket list.
Ok, watch Cloverfield. I watched it. At first you would not believe that this film was kept a secret for all those months. (especially in the birdge collapse scene, personally I dont think they could have CGI it. I think it was the real thing) Some of the scenes seem so huge it seems like they spent billions of dollars for for only one minute. There is so much action you forget it is being told from a handheld camera. The monster is NOTHING like Godzilla. Looks more like the Chimera from Resistence. THere is a good amount of gore in it.( Especially in the subway scenes) Thoughout this movie, you will feel a sense of false security and the movie will use this to scare you. If you are easliy scared, this movie will rattle you. Also you might experience motion sickness. I give it a 9-10.

My three year old has sat through movies. Cartoons only!! Anything else and she looses interest pretty quick.
I've been to movies where people's children have ruined it for everyone else. Do everyone, including your daughter, a favor and get a babysitter and leave him home.
I was just talking to my husband about taking our 3 year old to see this movie last night! I think it depends on the 3 year old-Ours has a good attention span, and when I let him, will sit and watch a full length movie. And I don't think ours would be scared and would enjoy the atmosphere. Now, I have a few friends that have little boys who are the same age and they should NOT be taken to the theatre. i guess it just depends on his attention span, which you said yours can't sit threw a whole movie at home, and will leave then come back to watch it. At the theater, he can't do that, and might get upset if he can't run around when he gets bored with the idea. I might hold off until he can sit a whole movie, as it would be a waste of your money.
I take drinks, snacks, small quiet toys in the theater. I also make sure that I go on a day and time that it is not packed. If you go to a matin茅e during the week it is virtually empty. Then you will not disturb a lot of people. It is a kids movie, so people will tolerate a little noise.
I wouldn't chance it. I found that kids start being able to sit though a movie at around 5.
i've been to the movies with my cousin who was 3 at that time. we watched 'night at the museum', it wasn exactly a kids show but it was funny n we thought he might be able to sit through it. he did watch it but got a little bored about half an hour into the show n kept talking until he fell asleep . but since u'll be watching 'Horton hears a who'...which is a kid's film, i think he might be alright. although i think u shd be prepared in case he decides to get up in the middle of the show. my suggestion : bring along a couple of toys to keep him occupied so the both of u wont have to leave your seats in the middle of the movie.
We have taken our children to the show and had no problem with this, good luck
Yes I did. It was kind a hard. I took them to that movie Friday afternoon. I went with my mother and them. My 2 year old had to go to the bathroom maybe about 4 times. I took her. At home she is the same way. She likes the movie a lot. But she really didn't watch it so much so I don't know how she could. LOL. I would just leave him home with dad or gramma. It would be easier. I think just next time, I will get her food and a slush . Just try and please him so that he will enjoy it.
if you can find a show that will remotely interest him and get his attention.
Try it, but to be safe bring a gameboy or a coloring book or something that he can use if he gets bored. Maybe buy him his own little box of popcorn and candy.
i took my little boy at 3 and vowed i would never do it again the first 10 mins fine the next five mins so embarassing he got up and ran infront of the screen and was very loud so we lasted 15 mins in the cinemas
Totally depends on the kid. Does he sit through a movie at home? Or even a TV show? If so, he'll likely be fine.
Some children that age can sit through some movies. With my youngest (just under 3), there's no way that he'd sit through a movie unless it had one of a few themes, and none are cartoons! But, when my oldest was 3, he had no problem sitting through any movie as long as someone was sitting there with him.

If he doesn't make it through the entire movie at home, just assume that he won't in a theatre. There will be just as many, if not more, distractions in a theatre in the form of other children. And, popcorn only lasts so long before it's either gone or on the floor. Plus, it's not very fun to walk a small child to the bathroom in complete darkness...
we've been taking our 3 year old granddaughter for quite some time - she has to go to the bathroom three or four times, she LOVES the popcorn and she LOVES the movie but it's tough for her to sit that long. the only problem you will have is making your 6 year old go with you to go to the bathroom -if Dad is along that will help - then your 6 year old can stay and enjoy the movie and one can take your son to where he needs to go when he needs to move around a bit.

Oh - and we always sit in the back row so as not to bother the other patrons!
oh yes i do i take my son to the movies all the time hes three now but i started taking him when he was two and he did just fine just buy him some of those gummy fishes they sale and he should be good!!
my three year old would not sit through a whole movie - it will depend on your child. you already said that at home he wont so i would bet he wouldnt at the thearter either...that you are stuck leaving a 6 year old alone while you chase after your little one...wait till he's closer to 4
I doubt he'll sit through it, he might get bored. Take an empty bottle in your coat (to sneak it in) and fill it with some water so that he can have a drink if he wants one.
yes if he likes tv take him to a cortoon during the day

What determines the lenght of time that it takes for a movie in theater to come out on dvd?

is it how good the movie does in the box office? or is it just that it takes to much time for the company to make enought copies

What determines the lenght of time that it takes for a movie in theater to come out on dvd?sunshine

Actually, what determines the theatre to DVD window is all in the marketing. If a movie was received well by the public it will usually come out on DVD a lot sooner. Take the film 300 for example. That defied expectations and nearly grossed $300 mil, but its already available on DVD (just 5 months after release). Its usually the films that bomb at the box office that take longer to come out on DVD. It gives the studios more time to re-market the film for home video. The average is 5 months after theatrical release.

Are in theater movie ticket prices too high?

The quality of Hollywoods products have gone downhill %26amp;

especially having to put up with all the commercials between showings

Are in theater movie ticket prices too high?musicals

Absolutely

Majority of the releases are mediocre at best. Some of the blame I direct at the celebrities who believe their acting is worth 20 million for some stupid movie.

Are in theater movie ticket prices too high?opera songs opera theater

Absolutely, I usually wait and rent them. I cant rent several movies for the price of one admission.
yea i think they should give us a break especially since the gas so freaking high to get me to the crappy movie lol and they better do it soon or i'm just gonna go to the guys on the street their cheaper anyway.
not sure i have cable %26amp; dvd's, hell with gas so high the price of a ticket shpuld be lower, by the time you get there you need more gas just to get home. a ticket should be buy 1 get 1 free plus a half of a tank of gas
I don't think the ticket prices are out of line for a two-plus hour show...but the concession stand is a total rip-off.

Imagine walking into a convenience store with a Big Gulp and a Snickers bar and the clerk says, "$9 please." You'd laugh and walk out.
They are very high. And coke, candy, and soda are expensive too.
it's really expensive, lucky I have a good sound system. Sound quality isn't as good as in the movie theater, but a lot cheaper.
yes it is...$8.00 for the matinee

-end
I think the price is normal considering facilities we get, but we don't need to watch all the time in theater
At my movie theater it's only $6.
Yes that's why we only go to the Drive-In, it's only $5 for adults and kids under 12 are free! We also know the owner and live next door so we get in for free!
I don't watch many movies, so usually I'm asking myself if it's worth two hours of my life... oh, AND eight dollars? No, thank you!
$5.00 isn't that bad for me
When I was a kid we used to go to the movies as a family about once a week. It was something fairly inexpensive that the whole family could do together, and then we would talk about the movie afterwards. It probably cost the whole family about 25 dollars admission and snacks back then.

Now one person can spend 20 dollars on admission and snacks. So, yes on one hand the movies have become too expensive.

On the other hand, movie goers today expect a lot more for their entertainment dollar. Compare the special effects in the original Superman movies to what we expected to see in X-men. Compare that we were willing to sit in movie theatres where seats were crammed together and we sort of had to peek around the head of the person in front of us to the need now for stadium seating and full THX Surround sound compared to good old fashioned stereo. So as consumers we are becoming far more demanding on what we want in a movie theatre. So we become more willing to pay for the experience.

I guess it just boils down to your personal preference. Some movies are fine on the small screen in your living room, but lets face it movies like XXX, X-MEN, or even Pirates of the Caribbean have a less impact in your living room than they do in the theatre.
Obscene.
Yeah i argee, i usually wait to buy the movie on DVD. they are expensive esp night movies
Yes a couple tickets cost more then the blasted dvd!

JESUS LOVES U!
Yes, they are too high. I would rather wait until they come out onHBO because then, I do not have to pay 10 bucks to see the movie; I got it on the t.v. right here.
Actually I don't really mind current ticket prices that much. They usually vary around $7 to $10 right. Hardly something to get so upset about. Now if you feel you've been ripped off by watching a crappy movie then that's pretty much your own fault. Study up before going to the movies. I constantly surprised by the amount of people that decide which movie they're going to see by simply choosing which movie poster looks good. If you're an uneducated consumer, you're likely to get suckered.
Yes they most definitely are. There are lots of people that would like to go to a movie, but can't because of the outrageous ticket admission. it's rediculous.

Why does theater movie have black bars at the top or bottom.?

Is it needed.

Why does theater movie have black bars at the top or bottom.?performing arts show

Movie theater screens are rectangular and not square. Most shows are Pan Scanned and a lot is cut out of the show. Now, most DVDs come in letterbox and that cuts nobody out. The bars are there to turn your television into a rectangle.

Why does theater movie have black bars at the top or bottom.?opera cd opera theater

That means it is showing you exactly what was recorded. When They format it without the black bars, they cut out some of the shot.
When you watch a movie in widescreen, it shows the entire picture. Most movies are filmed in widescreen. Widescreen movies played on regular TVs don't fit the square screen, so the space not filled by the movie appears as black bars on top and bottom. Movies formatted for TV are called Pan and Scan or "Full Frame". These movies basically cut a square out of the rectangular widescreen shot and stretch it out to fit your square television screen. When you watch these movies, you only see a fraction of what was originally filmed. For example, in the movie "Ghostbusters" when the team arrives at their first job, Egon is cut completely out of the picture in the Pan and Scan version of the film, but you can see him in the Widescreen version.
Movie screens are rectagonal. TV screens are square. They shrink the picture down (using the black bars) so that you see exactly the same thing you'd see if you were watching a movie in the theater. It's called "widescreen" or "letterboxing."

This is the preferred way to view a movie, as you are seeing the entire image. Watching it "full screen" chops off the sides of the picture, causing you to lose as much as 50% of the image.

No true movie lover prefers full screen.

For film projection, it is going to depend on the grain size of the film used to originally shoot the movie, and then the grain size on the film running through the projector. Also some detail will be lost in the copying process.

For the DLP projectors that seem to be making significant headway it looks like 2048 by 1080.

What was your worse acting experience (theater, movie or tv)?

Did you get a chance to work with someone a little famous and how well treated were you?

What was your worse acting experience (theater, movie or tv)?performing art center

Worst:

I was doing a show called Greater Tuna (freakin' hilarious, BTW), and one of my characters, Elmer Watkins, was a prototypical Vietnam vet paranoid Redneck type. This was at a College.

One Matinee, the Offensive Line of the football team ( all black, and not a one of them under 6'4" and 260#) was sitting in the front row of the Black Box theatre (they were required to be there by the Coach). Another character of mine, The Reverend Spikes, had amused them greatly with his "Testify, Brother!" speechifying earlier, so I thought everything was cool.

Until Elmer Watkins walked on towards the end of Act II wearing his white robe and carrying his hood...................

Best:

I once did a Master Class with the legendary John Raitt. He took the time to actually coach me, ME, an arrogant Nobody, on the finer points of Musical Theatre. If Oscar Hammerstein III or Cole Porter had done so (not possible, btw, as both were long dead), I could not have been more impressed. John told me that he would perform his famous "Monologue" from Carosel until the day he died.

He was off by two days, as it turned out.

John was a master showman and a terrific teacher who gave me invaluable tips.

You are most likely young, and thinking "Who the hell was John Raitt?" You may represent the future of Theatre, or you may just be asking a question because you are bored on a Wednesday night. Theatre has a rich history, and John Raitt was King during its Golden Age.

Google John Raitt. He was a bit more than a little famous.

Last minute I was cast in a lead, 2 freakin days to learn my part. It was just a one act. I learned the lines then promptly forgot each one when I hit the stage, well I improvised the whole darn thing and even though it bombed, I had the audience rolling in the aisles! I was beet red and hot the entire time, it was fun making everyone laugh but embarassing too! There are more but that is good enough...
I had a scene for my first acting class in high school, and the kid I was planning to perform with decided to try a few stunts.. We were doing the scene from the Crucible, at the end, when Elizabeth is talking to John.. and he is deciding whether to confess or not.. Well first of all the day of our scene he didn't show up.. then he missed class.. FOR A WEEK... (he was a jerkoff) and when he came back we had to perform.. and guess what?!?!? he brought captain morgan to school to drink.. he performed buzzed.. changed his lines.. asked me very odd questions.. and then was doing a little monologue towards the audience, and fell off the stage in the pit.. when he came back up, he grabbed me, and twirled me.. and then grabbed me face with his hands.. and it left longe scratches on my face for like 4 days.. it was awful... although I look back now.. and laugh!
Oh God, I was in this one play, everything was going great! Until the show started... during the course of the show we had

Do you think there would be less movie pirating if tickets at the theater were less?

I don't believe the internet is completely to blame for movie pirating. If tickets were cheaper surely more people would just go to the theater to see a movie. It would be much better quality. If they just wanted a copy of the movie they'd wait to rent it and copy it. What do you think? Would cheaper tickets help to prevent pirating?

Do you think there would be less movie pirating if tickets at the theater were less?pacific theater

Yes of course. But its kind of a lose lose situation. The tickets are more because of more pisrating so if the tickets where less they would compesate the cost some other way. (like a sitting fee)

No. People simply don't seem to regard it as theft at all.
Theatres can stay in business with tickets at prices of 75 cents to $1.75. There is one near me that has been in business for over a year.
No, to these people its a market, and even if they were here, theres still othe english speaking countries to contend with. With smaller cameras with more available saving space, its a vicious cycle with few positive solutions.
I really think that movie tickets are expensive, but also the DVD's are, I think that people will always find a way to bother the others, even if the tickets were cheaper....

a lot of money, lets just put it that way!
about three fitty
Basically they get 50% of the ticket price and 50% goes to the studio. Theater's really make their money on the concessions that is why pop and popcorn are so expensive.
It is a percentage of the ticket price, about half.
$35 - 50,000 per screen for the film if they lose it.

If they return the film in tact then the film is free but they have to pay a percentage of ticket sales to the distributor who takes the film back.

Does the theater owner really chooses what movie to play in the theater?opera songs

It depends on how big the movie is. Like who makes it. If it's a little indie-studio movie only coming out in a few hundred theaters (most big Hollywood movies get on 1-3 thousand screens), they probably won't get it for you and you'll have to wait for the DVD. They'd probably say it costs too much money to buy the film just so a few people will watch it. I don't think they even get a lot of that money they make from admittance. The studio gets most.

Does the theater owner really chooses what movie to play in the theater?secure browser opera theater

no i do
It's not up to the theatre at all.
No harm in asking. I think each theater has their own set of policies...but if they believe they can make money by playing the film, you've got a shot.
Theaters can arrange for private screenings, say for a birthday party or a corporate event, in which case they'll play (almost) any movie you want. Of course, you have to pay for the entire theater for the time the theater owner is not selling tickets for regular showings, and if you want to see something other than what the theater owner is currently showing, you'd have to supply it yourself or pay the rental fee that the theater owner is charged by his distributor. (Don't worry, the charge is usually less for an older film than it is for a first run film)

Just Upgraded the Home Theater. Need Movie Suggestions!!?

I just went crazy and upgraded my setup big time. I'm now in the need to put the system to the test. I'm looking for two types of movie.

1 movie with great audio/surround sound/soundtrack etc. The kind of movie that keeps you looking behind because you think someone/thing is actually there. Something quality that will piss off my neighbors and anyone else withing 50 meters.

%26amp;

Another movie that is visually jaw dropping. Something that will confuse the brain with its clarity and sense of reality,

If you have one movie in mind that contains both, then even better.

Thanks!

Just Upgraded the Home Theater. Need Movie Suggestions!!?theatre tickets

Definitively Top Gun is a must and will test your sound system like no other movie, but go for the special edition DTS ES 6.1, It has an spectacular original intro music with deep bass (Top Gun Anthem) followed by a loud and fast rock music (Danger Zone) and those F14's flying by. This one will help you to determine a safe distortion free volume level for your system.

Star Wars special edition DVD with Dolby Digital EX 6.1 (mandatory for all HT fans) will take you out of your seat right from the begining of the movie just with the THX intro (remember THX is a Lucasfilm technology and here they show the full potential of Dolby Digital EX and THX surround EX). The DVD presentation and menus are spectacular too and I think they are the best ever (It changes randomly between 3 different menu backgrounds each time you insert the discs).

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy take the best advantage of Dolby Digital EX 6.1 technology with a lot deep bass, surround and surround back effects along with spectacular visual effects. Play the movie Return of the king - When smeagol kills his partner at the beginig of the movie there's a increasing very deep bass heart beat. This will help you control your room resonances (If they are present then you will have to locate the source and correct them or you will have to decrease the volume level of your subwofer)

Lion King special edition (with DTS 5.1 DEHT disney enhanced home theater mix - I don't know what this people did here but the sound is flawless)

On the ?us stampede scene feel the vibration under your feets at the same time little stones shake near simba (if not then you may want to increase the volume level of your subwofer)

Check ambience recreation with echoes into the canyon.

Check dynamic range management. (soft sounds and loud sounds within the scene) Not everything about Home Theater is loudness. Soft sounds like those on this dramatic scene are very important and they get lost if there's to much ambient noise so check this.

Jet Li's Hero (DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1) will teach you to appreciate subtle effects and ambience reproduction.

Once you analize those movies and scenes then I will recomend to play movies like Jerry Maguire, Devil's Advocate, American Beauty or Romeo+Juliet, you will be amazed on how this movies manage scenes in ways your normal tv speakers cannot. Either subtle, soft or loud sound scenes, ambience and surround effects, music and bass management.

Remember to check the right connections of your system or you are going to experience nothing. Use digital coaxial or toslink cable when connecting the DVD to the A/V receiver and be sure to select the digital input (usually this is default) select the apropiate DSP mode from the Disc menu and on the receiver (Dolby Digital/EX - DTS/ES). If you have a One box surround system with DVD player incorporated then you should be covered on the connection side.

ive got a good movie suggestion. buy "KKK: The Knights of America"
Try the Lord of the Rings trilogy, worked for us when we did this. The scene with Gandalf and "You cannot pass" was wonderful!
The Matrix

Star Wars

Lord of the Rings

Sci-fi stuff is good on the HD
any of the big epic movies will do that for you.
Superman Returns is awesome both visually and sonically!
Home Theater magazine reviews movies for their picture and sound quality. The link below will take you there. Look for the place to click for more reviews. I think "Saving Private Ryan" is still pretty hard to beat for sound quality. "Cars" has great great sound and video. "U 571" has some excellent scenes that will show off the sound quality of your system. "What Dreams May Come" has some stunning video.
a great movie for sound purposes is Top Gun, for visual,i would say 1 of the new starwars movies or lord of the rings, and if your new setup is blue ray capable,go that route,it's a little better than plain dvd.
Here's a link that lists about a dozen titles with which versions to purchase, the correct audio track and recommended chapters to demo...Click right here: http://www.avtruths.com/testdiscs.html
Hi. Some of the best movies for sight and sound were actually made in the 60's and 70's even though to-days technology was not available back then. There is still plenty of rear information in them which was probably recorded unintentionally .I thoroughly recommend them particularly if you have a projection and screen. These are my favoroute 5

GRAND PRIX. (1966) A spectacular movie about the 9 Formula One races in the European Grand Prix .You are right in the middle of the action traveling nearly 200 miles an hour and the 6 channel soundtrack envelopes you in sound. Some scenes are filmed with a remote control camera which moves from behind the driver out over the front wheel turns back for a side view before back behind the driver again at 200 miles per hour on a steeply banked circuit

Filmed in 70 MM Super Cinerama the race scenes(and crashes ) are awesome.

Steve Mc Queens' La Mons movie and Days of Thunder are no match for Grand Prix.

TOMMY. 1975 A Rock Opera by The Who is a movie about a deaf dumb and blind boy who becomes a Pinball Champion The visual effects are stunning and just keep coming .The original soundtrack was recorded in 5 channel "Quintophonic"sound. It is a visual and sonic masterpiece to show off your system.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.1968. Stanley Kubrick 's visually stuning movie about space, set to the music of Strauss and filmed in Super Panavision 70 MM.This movie is a must have for its magnificent visuals

POLTERGEIST.1982.Steven Speilberg 's movie about the supernatural.with visual effects by Industrial Light and Magic.Suspenseful ,scary, witty and imaginative.Filmed in Panavision.

THE BIRDS 1963. Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece about attacking birds Before the days of digital effects there are 370 trick shots which actually look more "real"than some of todays computerised images..No music only bird sounds. Superb photography together with unnerving suspence, The Birds have stood the test of time.Thoroughly recommened if you like a horror movie about birds.

What exactly is a movie or theater producer's job?

I mean I know they produce it...but what does that entail?

What exactly is a movie or theater producer's job?hollywood theater

Another word for producer in this sense is facilitator. He gets the money, scouts the locations, gathers together all the props, hires the director, buys the film, Hires all the personnel. He does just about anything the director does not.

What exactly is a movie or theater producer's job?opera.com opera theater

The producer is the owner of intellectual rights to the entertainment production he creates. He is the boss. He hired, purchased materials and has the authority to use a storyline, whether he wrote the script, the script is in the public domain or he bought the script as an asset. Any profits from a production go to the producer. Clint Eastwood is someone I admire. He started from the beginning to be his own producer.

Original content is a very expensive proposition. Some cable episodes are considered a bargain if they can be done for around $1 million a week.

The reason you see a glut of animation is there are no residual deals to anyone upon the conclusion of the production. The producer begins to recoup his investment more favorably.

Who or what determines how long a movie will stay at the theater?

Is it a set period of time or does it just depend on how well the movie does? Some movies seem to stay at the theater forever, while some are gone in a week it seems.

Who or what determines how long a movie will stay at the theater?extension

Simply how well the movie pulls in dollars.

The bad ones are gone quickly. They did not carry good word-of-mouth or receive good reviews (by the way, as for the dumb, often-heard, remark "I never listen to the critics", a review is a review, whether it comes from your best friend or a syndicated columnist).

What is the greatest musical ever made? (movie not theater)?

ooo - good question. Erm.....I can't decide between On The Town, Singin In the Rain and Guys %26amp; Dolls. Think Guys %26amp; Dolls may just have it - the dialogue is fab and Marlon Brando crooning is rather good too - though I believe he couldn't sing more than a line before going out of tune so they had to record it one line at a time and splice it together, so if you listen to the song you never hear him take a breath..lol

Middle row, middle seat. The sound is perfect.

What is the best seat (place ) to view a movie in theater?amc theater opera theater

in the middle :)
As close to the center of the theater as you can get.
About the third row up and the 11th seat along.
Center, in back row.

Some people like to sit at the end of the aisle, so they can come and go without having to climb over people.

I myslf like to sit at the end of the aisle in the back row.
in the center of the theater...especially if it has "stadium seating"
depends what you want... usually beind the handicapped opening because no one sits there so you can always see the screen
in the middle

In all the years going to the theater, what movie have you seen that has made an impression on you?

Enough to buy it and see it over and over. For example, I went to see International Velvet, when I was 16. Loved the movie enough to get it in VHS. I only wish they have it in DVD. This movie is a sequel of National Velvet starting Elizabeth Taylor when she was 15 yrs old. I have the first one, just hoping that some one gives the 2nd one a change on DVD.

In all the years going to the theater, what movie have you seen that has made an impression on you?met opera

Jurassic Park. I saw it opening day when I was 12. I waited in line to get tickets and saw it in one of the first digital theaters in the country. The sound blew me away, but to twelve-year-old eyes, the sheer scope of action and the imagination on screen grabbed me from minute one. I ended up watching it 12 times in the theater, grabbing more and more each time. I was so obsessed with how they did it, how they made that world so real, that I read movie-making books voraciously, and decided then and there that I wanted to become a filmmaker.

Fourteen years later I still get chills at our first look at the brachiosaur when the music swells. The excitement doesn't grab me anymore as I've become desensitized from watching it too often, but I still have to thank Jurassic Park for my obsession with film. It's not my favorite movie. It's the not the best movie. But, it's the one that started me in the right direction.

In all the years going to the theater, what movie have you seen that has made an impression on you?movie theatre opera theater

Clockwork Orange - Stanley Kubrick and Close Encounters of the 3rd kind - S Spielberg.
War documentaries.
I saw "Lost in Translation" the other night and I don't know how it left such a great impression on me. It really had me thinking about the direction I'm going in my life. It was a true work of art.
The Little Mermaid fills the bill for me like that.

i even bought a laserdisk and I don;t even have a player!
Titanic
I love the movie "Shakespeare in love" and Ill bet ive seen it a hundred times. I reread Romeo and Juliet after watching it and I just love the acting in it. And its really funny at parts.

That and pulp fiction, but your not cool unless you have a copy of pulp fiction some where in your house.
The Godfather. Goodfellas. Goldfinger. Jaws. The Sound of Music. Casablanca(saw it on the big screen in the 1970s).

Gone With the Wind(big screen 1970s).
Christopher Walken and Sean Penn in "At Close Range". Based on a true story. Its a very good, but disturbing movie. Nobody plays an evil man as good as Walken!
For me it was the classic films "Singing in the Rain" and "Gone With the Wind". Both incredible stories but for different reasons.

NO
The Jackass movie inspires one to run screaming from the theater.
Pearl Harbor...I just hated that movie.
Miami Vice

horrible terible no good very bad movie.
My buddy and I were geeks and went to Dungeons and Dragons when it came out in the theater. It was deplorable. I bought him the book based on the movie as a white elephant Christmas gift the next year.
The Village

Blair Witch Project
Scary Movie 4 - we left after ten minutes into the movie.
Um. Lemme see...

Hmmm.

Star Wars Phantom Menace.
"King Kong" the Peter Jackson's re-make.
M. Knight Shymalans " Lady in the Water" . Very overrated, dragged on for hours on end. Forget runing and screaming out of the movie theater. It made me want to gouge out my eyeballs w/ a serving spoon so I wouldn't have to be subject to the excessive boredom that I was feeling at that moment.
King Kong, The Village, The Brothers Grim, and all Spiderman movies sucked crap. I actually did say to one of my friends as they wereabout to enter the theater to one movie "Run Kaleb, run!, save yourself!!" He also is my boyfriend to be. Hopefully.
DOOM. The sh*ttiest piece of sh*t movie I have seen. Just today though, I almost walked out of the theater out of disgust during the fight scene in Borat. But I stood strong.
well i didn't see it in the movie theaters, but probaly a really bad movie would be the hills have eyes. it was terrible!!!
Pearl Harbour, the worst most cliched movie, I've ever had the misfortune of seeing, and it completely underused Cuba Gooding Jr, one of the finest actors of his generation.
coldcreek manor that was the most stupiedest movie in the whole entire world me and my dad walked out and went into jeepers creepers 2 that was stupid
Yes i already have , the movie was called the illionist, very boring( i did not run out of the theater , I walked)
The Blair Witch Project... I just get angry all over again recalling spending my hard earned dollars on this under-extravagant **** fest!
Casualties of War with Sean Penn and Michael J Fox. Too graphic for me.
I go to 50 movies a year. I can enjoy almost anything, but Black Dahlia was the worst movie I have seen in 20 years.
When I saw When a Stranger Calls I wanted to punch everyone who was screaming in the face, cuz that was one of the stupidest ever, its not scary at all

King Kong. that movie is soooooooooooo corny i wanted to leave before it went past the first hour!
hitchhikers guide to the galaxy or evan almighty, they sucked pretty bad
Dragon Wars
when a stranger calls- sooo stoopid
Valentine with Denise Richards.
I would have to say Charlie Bartlett. That movie was trying way too hard.
Definitely: "Dude where's my car?"....
I was stupid enough to go and see Ultra Violet. However i wasnt stupid enough to stay for the whole movie.
Pulse (thought-humm I'd be better off w/out one-lol)
"From Hell" ! That movie should have stayed in Hell where it belong !
Norbit. Oh my god I just wanted to get out after the first 5 minutes. Eddy Murphy put in fat jokes about how much chicken fat people it, sucking jelly out of doughnuts and other painful jokes. The film acts so angry like it doesn't give a chance to chuckle. I'd give it 1/5.
Eragon. That movie almost made me cry it was so bad. I am NOT a fan of the books, so I had no qualms with how different the movie was from the book. The acting was awful, the story was atrocious, the plot was empty, and the set, what little there was, was super lame. Worst movie I have ever seen.
the dukes of hazard, I'm a big fan of the series i was so disappointed, i spend most of the film watching my watch
The thin red line.
sweeny todd was the worst. i couldn't sit through it. i fell asleep.
Once I made the mistake of taking a date to see (my enthusiastic suggestion) Session 9.

I will never get those 2 hours back, and she still reminds me I may have the worst judgement in the history of selecting films.

yes to part 1 and yes to part 2, but there are certain dates that the theatres kind of expect and condone it (christmas day, don't ask me why, but this one place I used to go to as a kid used to list all the running times, that day only, so you could schedule the day in the multiplex...I guess it was their christmas gift to the gen. pub.
Of course, who hasn't? My college boyfriend and I did this one rainy Saturday. 3 movies total. The theater employee just laughed.

I used to do it all the time when I was a teenager.... the way I saw it, ticket prices were so high, my one ticket was more like a day pass. I saw the original Star Wars like 16 times by doing this trick.

Yeah...a few times. I tried getting other people to do it, but it's like they feel guilty or something. But, I usually do it when I see an early movie.
Yeah. I do that a lot with my friends. You payed to get in. So then just go watch movies any ways. The theater employees wont even know! One time we went to National Treasure, The Incredibles, the Polar Express, and a movie called Alexander or something.
